The editor introduced herein, is suitable for processing electronic documents, adapted for use with patents and patent applications:
a. Input user and application details
b. Input file(s) of application
c. Selective Display of application; READER SUBROUTINE
Save, Print, Transmit version.
The user may indicate what version of the application to view. The Editor
will find that version, or will compile it from existing files and the
commands COP recorded, as used by inventor to create the new file.
The READER sub may be implemented in a server or in a user's PC, for example using off-the-shelf browser programs or a specialized program.
d. Enter Edit commands; EDIT/WRITE SUBROUTINE (steps d, e).
For example, the EDIT/WRITE sub may be implemented as a program in the
server, or in a user's computer if the user installs the program there.
e. Execute commands if permitted.
The new text, after executing the permitted instructions, is then presented
to the user, as in step (c), for example by again executing the READER sub.
f. Ready?
The user decides whether the edit is complete or not. If complete, then
proceed to (g).
g. Append IDRI, CRC, DIS. Close file.
Patentability criteria:
An applicant can amend a claim during prosecution to better reflect the
intended scope of the claim, however surrendered matter cannot be reclaimed.
Patentics(SM) can advantageously be used to plan an effective strategy during examination, both to save examiner's time and to achieve as good a patent protection as is due.
A bonded text editor may be advantageously used for that purpose.
